A Super NoVA is a person with a unique talent or business that makes them stand out in the crowd of Northern Virginia. Jennifer Burns is this week’s Super NoVA for her beautiful family and children’s photography.

“I’ve always been obsessed with photos,” said Burns.

Burns, who has a 4.5 year-old, a 3 year-old, and a 10 month old, first started her photography website about 2.5 years ago. Word of mouth has helped spread her business and she has snapped somewhere around 60 different families; she has numerous repeat families. 

Taking pictures of children can be quite a feat, so Burns tries to get to know the kids prior to the shoot.

“I always send the mother some questions beforehand so I can relate to the child. I want it to feel more like a play date,” said Burns.

Nina Un of the McLean/Falls Church area is this week’s Super NOVA for her dedication to non-profit organizations. Un had a casual idea this past October that lead to the development of her organization, Care to Lunch.

Care to Lunch is a charity-focused lunch networking group, and a forum for non-profits to gain awareness, as well as new members. She wanted to do something that was easy and accessible for people because as a mother of 2 young boys she felt that she didn’t really have the time to go to all the happy hours and galas around town to give back. The lunches are bi-monthly and held in Tyson’s Corner.
