Man charged for touching, kissing girl at daycare in N. VA

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 35-year-old man inappropriately touched and kissed an eight-year-old girl at an apartment-run daycare in Falls Church Tuesday morning, Fairfax County police said.

Santos Romero Gomez, 35, of Falls Church is being charged for assault and kissing a child under the age of 13, with lascivious intent, authorities stated.

The assault happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Glen Carlyn Drive. It was learned that the mother dropped her daughter off at the daycare before going to school.

Gomez, who was renting a room inside of the same apartment went up to the child. Police said he touched the child inappropriately and kissed her. The victim was able to get away and ran to the woman taking care of her. The girl called her parent who returned to the apartment right away.

CAUGHT ON CAM: Man robs bank in Falls Church

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man robbed a Capital One Bank in Falls Church on Friday, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The robbery occurred at the Capital One Bank located at 6367 Seven Corners Center around 5:30 p.m.

Police say a man approached one of the tellers and passed a note demanding money. The suspect fled after an undisclosed amount of cash was handed over.

Man reportedly seen naked in bushes along Northern Va. trail

FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- An unknown man is wanted after he reportedly was seen standing naked in bushes along the Washington and Old Dominion trail Saturday, Arlington County police said.

According to police, the man was reportedly naked in the bushes at around 11:32 a.m. near the 2000 block of N. Washington and Old Dominion Trial.

The man is described as Hispanic or Middle-Eastern with dark hair and a slim build.

Letters in support of convicted Va. child molester draw outrage

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- Falls Church residents are angry at several city leaders who wrote letters in support of a convicted child molester after his first conviction.

The leaders who wrote the letters now say they no longer support Michael Gardner after he pleaded guilty last month.

One of the people who wrote those letters is a city council member up for re-election and parents of the victims want anyone who supported Gardner out of office.

"It was scary, it was discouraging, it was painful," Kris Rice, whose daughter was one of the four girls molested by Gardner, said.

Commissioner of Revenue Thomas Clinton was one of the people who wrote letters. He said he no longer supports Gardner and would not resign.

2 wanted in Falls Church Exxon gas station robbery

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- There is a lookout for two suspects accused of robbing an Exxon gas station in Falls Church Monday morning, Fairfax County police said.

The robbery happened at the Exxon gas station located at 7519 Leesburg Pike just before 10 a.m.

Police said the two men entered the gas station and stole money from the register. One of the men tried to use an electronic control weapon against the victim, however failed at the attempt. Both of the men fled the area. The suspects are being described as two black men in their mid-twenties.

One suspect was 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with green stripes on the sleeves at the time of the robbery.

The second suspect was between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a muscular build. He was wearing black hooded sweatshirt and a black cap.
