 “It was wonderful to be back on the George Washington University campus and it was amazing to be able to sample so many delicious cakes,” said Sabrina Campbell, Occasionally Cake owner.

Both Alexandria cake boutiques offer more than 100 cake and gourmet cupcake flavors. Occasionally Cake is also renowned for their cake truffles. Instead of discarding leftover cake, it became the centerpiece of their cake truffles, and then dipped in Belgian chocolate.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Lorton, Va. will host their annual Breakfast with Santa on Sun., Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Hotel Monaco, 480 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Tickets range in price from $35 to $45 per person. All tickets can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org

ThFrosty Follies’ performers will join Santa for the annual Breakfast with Santa. The family-event offers Sunday brunch at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria, complete with a live jazz performance from Metropolitan School of the Arts’ dancers, interactive song and dance workshop for the kids, special goody bags and visits from Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Suzy Snowflake and her International Dolls.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. will present their annual Nutcracker performances on Sat., Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sun., Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. and
5 p.m.at the Northern Virginia Community College, Ernst Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus in Annandale, Va. Ticket prices range from $18 to $27 and can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org.

With the holidays approaching, eating and indulging is top-of-mind for most, but The Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Studio in Alexandria, Va. has started its Training for Turkey adult fitness program now through Nov. 28, offering unlimited adult fitness classes for $50.  MSA will even host a special Thanksgiving Day MetroBarre and Yoga Class on Thurs., Nov. 28 to bring in the holiday. And for all those moms, childcare is available at both studios for all 9:30 a.m. classes, Monday through Friday. Cost is $2 per child. The City of Manassas Department of Public Works and Utilities is donating $3, 165 to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness, as part of their 100 Year Anniversary Event, where more than 600 people attended and Manassas Utilities donated $5 for every person that participated. They also announced winners of their grand prize giveaways, which are: Janet Richards of Manassas, winning the Ashby Jeweler’s pearl necklace and bracelet set, while Jesse Caudill, Marita Doherty and Pedro Amaya of Manassas, Va. also won $50 gift cards from City Square Café and Monza of Manassas. With the advent of October, Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting a four-course pumpkin beer dinner, featuring beers from Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, Devil’s Backbone, Williamsburg Aleworks and Flying Dog. on Thurs., Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for $65 inclusive.
