Favorite Restaurant

So, I have been in Chicago for the past few days getting out and checking out the sites - it is crazy how much that town has changed since I lived there. It’s always good to get back to my roots and the food there – unreal. I forget how many great restaurants there are out there and that is probably because I spend my life in one. So, I need some help. I don’t have much time to get out so I need some recommendations for some of Virginia and DC’s best restaurants. Any type of food, any type of ambiance – I just want to know what the next place is that I should try. Hook a brother up.

Bluemont Hosts Its 41st Annual Country Fair This Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, the Bluemont Cititzens Association invites "neighbors" from surrounding communities to join them for a country fair. The fair, a tradition of 41 years, is held in the center of Bluemont, a quaint and delightful village in the foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

The fair offers more than thirty types of attractions and is sure to please everyone in your family. You'll find juried crafters and live demonstrations of historic crafts. Ladies from towns all around will bring home-baked goods to please your palate, and there are even pie and pickle—yes, I said pickle—making contests. There is an abundance of live music, and your children will also be entertained with games and fun especially for them.

Falls Church Farmers Market Voted #1

In a contest sponsored by the American Farmland Trust, the Falls Church Farmers Market was voted “American’s Favorite Farmer Market.” The contest was broken into 4 different categories: boutique markets (15 or less vendors), small markets (16-30 vendors), medium markets (31-55 vendors), and large markets (56 or more vendors). Falls Church Farmers Market fell into the medium market category with a total of 45 vendors.

Virginia farmers also voted on favorite markets, regardless of size, and Falls Church finished first. Come and check out the market in Falls Church if you haven’t already! The Falls Church Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon, and 9:00 a.m. during the winter. The market takes place in the parking lot of City Hall at 300 Park Avenue in Falls Church, VA.

Sunset Cinema Coming Soon

It’s almost time for Sunset Cinema to start up in Falls Church. Starting on Friday, September 3, free film screenings are held at Cherry Hill Park at 312 Park Avenue in Falls Church, VA. The movies are always family friendly and will be held every Friday at dusk.

Bring blankets, bug spray, and your own picnic if you would like! The dates of the other screenings will be Friday, September 17 and 24. If there is inclement weather, the movie nights will still happen, but they will be moved to the Falls Church Community Center near the park at 223 Little Falls Street.
