School Lunch Prices Moving Up to Reduce Carbon Footprint

Falls Church City Schools are committed to “Going Green” this upcoming school year. In an effort to promote sustainability, the schools are marking up lunch prices. The costs are coming from using recyclable paper trays, instead of Styrofoam waste. The school lunch prices will see an increase by 6% that was approved by the Falls Church City School Board to fund the new trays. Here are the new lunch prices:

Secondary School Breakfast:

Elementary School Lunch:

 

$2.60

(+15¢; + 6%)

Secondary School Lunch:

 

$2.80

(+15¢; + 6%)

Adult School Lunch:

 

$3.50

(+20¢; + 6%)

Milk:

 

$0.55

(+ 0¢; + 0%)

Also, the cost of breakfast, which is only served at Thomas Jefferson Elementary and George Mason High School, will see an increase of 20 cents to $1.50.
