Don't Miss Out On The Biggest Chinese New Year Festival in the Area | Community Spirit
Tonight is Chinese New Year's Eve. Tomorrow marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit on the lunar calendar. The Asian Community Service Center is proud to present the 4th Annual Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday, February 12th. The Festival will take place all day long, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church, VA. The middle school is located at 3020 Gallows Road.
The entire school will be filled with Chinese New Year decorations, booths, games, dancing, food, and more. The auditorium, the cafeteria, the gymnasium, and even the hallways will be filled with different cultural activities and decor. Admission is FREE and you will get the chance to try great asian food, watch live performances, see the traditional Chinese New Year Parade, draw prizes, and gain Asian cultural exposure.
People come from all over for this festival because it is the largest one of its kind in the area. Attendance is expected around 4,000-5,000 people. Last year, because of the large snow storm the festival was canceled and moved to May for the "Asian Fair." They could not do it any sooner because the school didn't have the space to hold such a large festival until then. "Even New York doesn't have a celebration this big, and there are lots of Chinese people in New York," said Tiny Tang of the Asian Community Service Center.
